Having returned from watching the Network Q Rally in 1998, I was in the mood to build a rally car, and this was the subject chosen.
Tamiya did a superb job with the tooling and the kit went together very well.
'555 Sonic Blue Mica' basecoat was applied using the usual method, and the lacquer was applied over the decals. The kit decals are as the car raced the stages, with the '555' cigarette sponsorship hidden with 'banana' style decals. I chose to model the kit as a dusk setting with the lower spotlights fitted but without the auxiliary bonnet lamps. I also added interior map reading light, after market fire extinguishers, carbon fibre decals and Sabelt harnesses.
Exterior detail consists of more carbon fibre, dzus fastners, bonnet pins aerials.
